“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace…”  Hebrews 4:16

Friday, October 23, 2026 - 1 PM inside Converse Hall

A newly created form of embodied prayer inspired by the Old Testament “tent of meeting” where worship and divine encounter took place (and where New Testament theology has its roots), Tabernacle offers a vital mix of movement, breath, and contemplative rest with Scripture at every step to provide a holistic ritual of truly biblical proportions. A fivefold sensory experience including live music on the day, Tabernacle aims to help us “draw near” and restore our often lost sense of corporeal wonder as the climax of creation. With the long-term enterprise still in its early stages, this workshop will provide a sneak peek of what is being built, and will serve as a testing ground with a premium put on feedback, some audience participation, and dialogue.

Workshop Details:

Join us for a brief opening lecture to review the central place of the tabernacle in Scripture and introduce the embodied prayer program, followed by a demonstration including live music, light participation for those interested, and time for discussion/Q&A. Come as you are; all that’s required is curiosity.

Note: movement is not required - all are welcome to participate at the comfort level that suits you best.

Presenters:

Tabernacle is led by poet/screenwriter Bradford Winters, in collaboration with fellow Boston-area artists, including: musicians/producers Megan and Daniel Tavani, choreographer Juliana Jordan, Rector Dave Friedrich, and poet Anna A. Friedrich. As the biblical project for the tabernacle brought together various artisans with a common purpose to build a divine dwelling on earth, so does Tabernacle Collective include visual artists, dancers, musicians and writers in its wider core team. Our working motto, a prayer and invitation alike, is: “Come Dwell With Us.”
